AWS is the cloud provider of choice for most businesses from small and medium sized businesses and start-ups to large enterprise organisations. Driving this growth has been the unrivalled selection of services and the innovative, agile and flexible ways of consuming them. These same features are now starting to attract public sector organisations across many fields from Local & Central Government, Education, Healthcare, Blue Light through to Non-Profit Organisations (NPO). More and more public sector organisations are looking at how the cloud can service them better than on-premises investments, and now is the best time to be building an AWS Public Sector business within your Cloud Practice. If you don’t have a Public Sector Business or Cloud Practice then TD SYNNEX can help on both counts, more on that later.
An opportunity for newcomers
As I’ve already mentioned there are more and more public sector organisations looking to jump into the cloud, with more and more projects. This provides a real opportunity for qualified AWS partners to support this growth. Traditional channel VARs & MSPs have the end to end core infrastructure skills and experience, and those that jump in now and address specific verticals such as Healthcare, will be in a strong position to benefit from this growing business. Taking Healthcare for example, the opportunity to position new cloud projects, such as storage & analytics with Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift or Data Lakes, or with VMware Cloud on AWS, both for core vSphere and Horizon workloads, is massive. In most cases, such as the two examples above, these aren’t areas partners should feel uncomfortable discussing.
To underline these claims of opportunity let’s look at some numbers and case studies where AWS is leading the way with innovation and growth.
In the Crown Commercial Service 2019 Digital Marketplace Review, released in January 2020, there was a total of £2.4bn spent. This was the first time that yearly spend had topped £2bn, a huge growth on 2018. Spend on G-Cloud was 66% of the £2.4bn, and AWS was ranked as the top supplier. Looking at market segments within the report we can see that Education led the way in digital growth, followed by Local Government and Health. As an example of how AWS has been helping Local Government there is a great case study for Aylesbury Vale District Council available. This shows how Aylesbury Vale used innovation from the AWS cloud, such as the Alexa service, to work with a partner to deliver digital transformation of their services to constituents.
A program that brings new opportunities
So far, I’ve given more than enough reason to become an AWS Public Sector recognised partner. Now I guess what you want to know is what does it entail, what do you get and how can TD SYNNEX help?
